Mission
We are a politically active community of citizens who demand and promote constitutionally
limited and fiscally responsible government at all levels.
Goals and Objectives:
Continually,
1. We support only Party nominated candidates and elected officials responsive to our mission.
2. As an organization, we do NOT support primary candidates until after primary elections are concluded.
3. Monitor elected officials
4. Educate voters on government processes, constitutionality of legislation, and official actions.
5. Promote and organize active displays of free speech.
NOTE -
We address issues and take stands, which at times puts us in conflict with current office holders and candidates
on the other side of an issue. However, it is solely over issues that we oppose a politician. Our position as responsible citizens is to never condone personal or public attacks on private individuals.
WE DO NOT as a group, endorse Primary candidates. We do, however, always endorse and encourage everyone to support the candidate of his/her choice, and vote for a General Election slate. As individuals we are free to publicly declare a Primary choice as long as public statements state clearly that the choice is personal, NOT a group endorsement of the Henderson County TEA Party.
We meet each month on the third Tuesday. Join us for Dinner at 5:30PM and our Program at 6:00PM. See "Events" for time and place, and to check the latest activities.
Henderson County Formed in a TEA Party Protest in 1838
In an article in the Tribune (Oct. 7, 2010), according to local historian George Jones (90), when all of the western end of North Carolina was Buncombe County, it seems that the Sheriff jailed 90 men from our area, for taxes owed, in the nearest jail which was in Morganton. They had been Taxed Enough Already you see, and had refused to pay. This incident was used to try and turn the Legislature to allow us to form a new county, which they were more than reluctant to do.(who knew) But the crafty locals turned the tide when they offered to name the new county after the recently deceased and highly popular Supreme Court Justice, Leonard Henderson.
Phase II began, of course, on February 12, 2009 when the smoldering and boiling resentment of bailouts and "too big to fail" under G.W. Bush was ignited by Rick Santelli's riff on it from the Chicago Board of Trade, broadcast over CNBC.
